1. About Tip My Teacher

Tip My Teacher is a platform that enables parents to send tips (voluntary financial contributions) to their children's teachers. The platform is operated by:

By creating an account or using this platform, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.

2. Description of Service

Tip My Teacher provides the following services:

• For Parents: The ability to set up one-time or recurring monthly tips for your child's teacher. Tips are processed via credit card through our secure payment processor.
• For Teachers: The ability to receive accumulated tips through your preferred payout method (bank transfer, cheque, or Interac e-Transfer).

Tip My Teacher acts as an intermediary facilitating payments between parents and teachers. We are not a financial institution, bank, or money services business.

3. Platform Fee

Tip My Teacher retains a service fee from each tip to cover payment processing costs, platform maintenance, and operational expenses. The fee percentage may change with 30 days' prior notice to active users.

4. Payments and Recurring Charges

One-Time Tips

One-time tips are charged immediately upon confirmation. You will receive a confirmation of the payment.

Monthly Recurring Tips

When you set up a monthly recurring tip, you authorize Tip My Teacher to charge your credit card the specified amount on a monthly basis until you cancel.

• Recurring charges are processed on the same day of each month as your initial tip setup
• You will receive a confirmation for each payment
• You may cancel recurring tips at any time through your dashboard, via SMS, or by contacting support
• Cancellation takes effect before the next scheduled charge. No further charges will be made after cancellation.

Payment Processing

All payments are processed securely through Cardknox, a PCI DSS compliant payment processor. Tip My Teacher does not store your full credit card number. We retain only a tokenized reference and the last four digits for your records.

5. Refund and Cancellation Policy

Cancellation of recurring tips: You may cancel a recurring tip at any time. Cancellation prevents future charges but does not refund previous payments that have already been processed.

Refund of processed payments: Once a tip payment has been processed and delivered to the teacher, it is generally non-refundable. However, you may request a refund within 7 days of a payment if:

• The payment was made in error (e.g., duplicate charge, wrong amount)
• You were charged after cancelling a recurring tip
• There was a technical error in processing

To request a refund, contact us at support@tipmyteacher.com with your account details and the reason for the refund. We will respond within 5 business days.

Under Quebec's Consumer Protection Act, for distance contracts, you have a 7-day cooling-off period from the time you receive these terms to cancel without penalty.

6. Teacher Payouts

Teachers receive their accumulated tips according to their configured payout preferences:

• Payout methods: Bank transfer, cheque, or Interac e-Transfer
• Payout schedule: Monthly, on the teacher's preferred day of the month
• Minimum payout: Payouts are generated when there are completed payments to distribute

Tip My Teacher makes reasonable efforts to process payouts on time but is not responsible for delays caused by banking institutions, incorrect payout details provided by the teacher, or force majeure events.

7. Account Responsibilities

• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
• You must provide accurate and current information
• You must be at least 18 years old to create an account
• You agree not to use the platform for any unlawful purpose
• You agree not to attempt to access other users' accounts or data

8. SMS Communications

Tip My Teacher uses SMS messaging for account verification, payment confirmations, and interactive account setup. By providing your phone number, you consent to receiving transactional SMS messages related to your use of the platform.

You may opt out of non-essential SMS communications at any time by replying STOP to any message. Essential transactional messages (payment confirmations, security alerts) may still be sent as necessary for the service.

Standard message and data rates from your mobile carrier may apply.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Tip My Teacher's total liability to you for any claims arising from or related to the use of the platform shall not exceed the total amount of platform fees you have paid in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Tip My Teacher is not liable for:

• Delays or failures in payment processing caused by third-party payment processors or banking institutions
• Loss of data due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control
• Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for gross negligence, intentional fault, or any liability that cannot be excluded under Quebec law.

10. Modifications to Terms

We may modify these Terms of Service from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or through the platform at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

If you do not agree with the modified terms, you may close your account before the changes take effect.

11. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Quebec and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein.

Any dispute arising from these terms or your use of the platform shall be submitted to the courts of the Province of Quebec, District of Montreal.
